As with all of our proprietary wines, each bottle has a deep and personal meaning for us. Mud's Kitchen is named after James' grandmother, Margaret 'Mud' Madu, and her farmhouse kitchen where he grew up learning about flavors and life's great lessons. We certainly think that's something to raise a glass to!
Sourced from Clone #7 Cabernet Sauvignon from our estate, the grapes also give us an intense soft lushness that we really desire in our wines. With Mud's Kitchen, we hoped to showcase this wonderful clone and the intense muscular core and long expressive finish it gives us.
Simply put, this is an indulgently elegant and yet sophisticated wine. It opens with captivating aromas of blackberry compote, black currant, vanilla, milk chocolate coupled with hints of caramel, warm spice and wild herbs. On the palate, flavors of ripe blackberries, cherries, cassis and dark chocolate unfold with touches of espresso cream and vanilla. Its structure is defined by firm yet supple tannins and mouthwatering acidity, leading to a long, complex finish that lingers gracefully.
