There is an old saying comparing grapevines to poets, and that is “the more they struggle and are stressed, the more interesting and noteworthy are the results they produce.”

“Poets Corner” is the name given to our small block of Clone 15 Cabernet Sauvignon in the northeast corner of our property where the sandy/gravelly soils show poor fertility and yet great drainage which cause these vines to struggle and put more energy into searching for nutrients and water which results in low yielding, small intense and flavorful berries that, just like the best poets, reveal themselves in an intense and imaginative way.

Our 2021 Poets Corner is a beautifully crafted expression of depth and finesse. Aromas of cocoa powder, cloves and dark chocolate rise from the glass, interwoven with notes of cassis, vanilla and worn leather. This exuberant wine unfolds with layers of blackberry compote, black cherry and subtle hints of allspice, adding warmth and complexity. The texture is luxurious, with velvety tannins and a silky mouthfeel that glides effortlessly across the palate. A long, persistent finish carries echoes of dark fruit, spice and elegant oak, showcasing the wine’s structure and age-worthy balance.
